ABM Industries Manager Innovation and Client Facing Technology in New York, New York

Overview

ABM’s Innovation team plays a critical role in shaping the future state and strategic direction for the organization. We work hand-in-hand with partners in Technology, Business Units, Procurement, and Marketing to identify new ideas, pilot in a field-focused manner, and scale throughout our organization. In this role, you will lead key programs within out innovation strategy and rolling 36-month plan. You will also play a critical role in shaping ABM’s vision and priorities by contributing to ideation, use case evaluation and analysis, and strategic planning. More critically, you will help us improve and shape the overall innovation program, partner engagement, and metrics tracking. We are looking for an experienced, driven leader who is excited to lead innovation programs that shape what the organization will look like in 2 – 3 years. In this role, you will develop a deep understanding of both the business and industry, as well as be expected to work with stakeholders at all points of the business including senior leaders, operational P&Ls owners, and functional stakeholders.

Pay: $125,000 - $150,000

The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead innovation programs which contain multiple sub-projects or workstreams underneath them

  • Lead the end-to-end program team, inclusive of managing direct reports and managing FTEs from other departments, contractors, and 3rd party support for project execution

  • Maintain a strategic vision for how the program, as well as the sub-projects or workstreams underneath it, are driving better outcomes for the business, the team members, and our clients

  • Manage and/or oversee projects within the program end-to-end, inclusive of managing business and functional leaders supporting the project

  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the goals and mission of the innovation team

  • Develop an expertise for innovation in the facility management space through market research and leverage this expertise to help shape innovation direction

  • Stay informed around changing trends and developments within the tech landscape

  • Provide thought leadership on how we could leverage technologies to solve business challenges

  • Play a leadership role in the development of our strategic vision for how to leverage and incorporate technology into our service offerings

  • Engage, gather input from, and build relationships with a variety of functional and operational partners to achieve goals and desired outcomes

  • Ensure that all projects and pilots within your portion of the innovation program have clear organization and project structure to achieve the established goals. This includes but is not limited to coaching the workstream lead on framing the goal and strategy, designing the work plan, and driving towards a recommendation around scale approaches and go-to-market strategies

  • Recommend monetization strategies for new services offerings or technology solutions

  • Communicate analysis, vision, pilot results, or solutions in an effective manner for a wide range of internal and external audiences

  • Lead communications and presentations for senior leadership and executives, inclusive of outlining recommendations on strategic decisions

  • Develop internal and client-facing materials around our vision for technology as well as our findings from pilots

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to help drive flawless execution of projects

  • Hone problem solving, analysis, and communications skills with active coaching

  • Assist with responding to time-sensitive requests from SVP-Strategy & Innovation as well as cross-functional / business unit partners

Preferred Experience

  • Bachler’s Degree in area with analytical bias.

  • 4+ years of innovation, strategy, or consulting experience either internally or with a top-tier management consulting firm

  • 1+ year managing direct reports

  • 3+ years leading project teams (even if not managing direct reports)

  • Strong leadership and project management skills

  • Strategic, highly analytical thinker with sound business judgment and proven thought leadership

  • Self-starter who will work independently to drive projects and pilots forward within set objectives

  • Diverse problem-solving experience with ability to contribute to solution-development across a variety of business verticals and technology categories

  • Proven ability to work on cross-functional teams in order to deliver business outcomes

  • Ability to flex between big picture thinking and sharp attention to detail

  • Well-tuned emotional intelligence

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to tailor for various functional areas and levels of management

  • Operates with a sense of urgency and transparency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
