ABM Industries IAD Lobby Agent in Dulles International Airp, District Of Columbia

Overview

The lobby agent is responsible for the overall management of the customer queue awaiting processing at airport security checkpoints.

Specific Duties/Essential Job Functions : (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Maintain passenger movement for optimal queue management.

  • Control and monitor and quantity of baggage pursuant to TSA security directives.

  • Identify and direct passengers selected for additional security screening to TSA

  • Control access to security screening checkpoint to air carrier ticketed passengers, airport employees and government employees as set forth in TSA security directives.

  • Control access to security checkpoints

  • Provide direction to customers on divestiture.

  • Verify passenger boarding passes and/or airport authorization to ensure concourse access is permitted.

  • Communicate effectively with others in work environment and with the public.

  • Comply with Company and Client expectations regarding professionalism, knowledge, accuracy and timelines of service.

  • Provide “Legendary” and timeliness of service.

  • When necessary for international arrivals, direct customers to appropriate lane depending on citizenship and ensure that arriving customers are in possession of completed customs and immigration paperwork.

  • Comply with all safety, security, compliance and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, by our Clients and by regulatory authorities.

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

Language Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals, employee handbooks, and passenger boarding documents.

  • Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from passengers, groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Math Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability :

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

General Company Requirements:

  • Employee must comply with the Company’s uniform and grooming standards and must wear his or her SIDA badge/Airport ID at all times.

  • Employee must comply with all guidelines and policies set forth in the ABM Aviation’s Employee Handbook. These policies include, but are not limited to, the Company’s Zero Tolerance Discrimination and Harassment Policy, Retaliation Policy, Ethics Policy, and Security Policy.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience:

Previous customer service experience preferred.

Overall:

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required

• No experience required and on the job training provided

Preferred Qualifications:

• One (1) year of customer service or similar work experience preferred

Responsibilities:

• Provide informational, baggage and ticket support to passengers at departure and arrival gates

• Assist passengers with baggage check-in

• Check passengers in for flights and issue tickets to passengers

• Confirm the identities of passengers and provide boarding passes

• Provide assistance to passengers via phone and in person by scheduling reservations, providing direction or collaborating with other team members or client representatives for assistance

• Assist passengers with questions about delayed or lost baggage

• Redirect or rebook customers whose flights have either been delayed or canceled

• Provide flight updates to passengers waiting for flights

• Provide wheelchair assistance to passengers or perform janitorial duties as needed

• Follow safety precautions at all times
